LightPainting

I used my Canon Powershot A540 to click these. Its an ordinary point and shoot digital camera. No, they are not photoshopped. Its pretty simple. All you have to do is. Put your cam in manual mode and increase the shutter time. The value depends on how big your painting is. And set the light sensitivity to minimum. This works only in the dark. Camera should be placed somewhere. Use a tripod if possible. I don’t have a tripod so I placed my cam on a table and used self timer. I used something like 15seconds to shoot the big ones<my name>. Since I’m not an expert my so called big ones are still very small. For the small ones it was just about 5seconds<smiley, heart>. Once the camera starts recording create your art using a light source. I used an led torch. Did those long ago. I was just a beginner exploring the features of my camera <I still am a beginner>. Don’t flash the light directly at the sensor, you might get a completely white output.

Wikipedia says, “Light painting, also known as light drawing or light graffiti is a photographic technique in which exposures are made usually at night or in a darkened room by moving a hand-held light source or by moving the camera. In many cases the light source itself does not have to appear in the image”.

Click here for some really good ones<Done by pros>.

And here’s a really good tutorial I found in Youtube.

Anyway this is one of those really fun and creative things you can do with your digital camera. So get your cam and try it out, Believe me, its fun.
